AS-5369-2023
With the introduction of AS-5369-2023 on the 15th of December 2023, Infection control practices for all Health Care Organisations of all sorts changed to differing degrees based on your risk and setting.

AS-5369-2023 is essentially a one size fits all document and is designed to be used as the minimum infection control standards in all Health Care Organisations settings, but it is to be read based on your setting and risk evaluation.

This means that not everything in the document applies to all settings. We examine the risk where and apply to our processes for each topic where applicable.

One of the big differences is that it is an "Evidence based" process. We now need evidence to validate our records and therefore tie our processes to records based on your setting.

Where to start???? Firstly, gather your IFU's (Information for use) that should come with all Reusable Medical Devices. These give you critical information on how an RDM is to be re-processed. Then you can determine the process required. From there put your procedure manual together and finally ensure your processes are put into practice.
Proactive Sterilizer Services recommends that you follow the AS-5369-2023 document for your minimum infection control requirements. We make this recommendation so that you are operating and meeting Australia's minimum infection control requirements.
Proactive tests all equipment to AS-5369-2023 and meets ISO-17665 and ISO-15883 series standards for all testing requirements as described/ referenced in AS-5369-2023.
